Civil Project Manager

Location: Fort Worth, REQ425

SUMMARY:

Assist the Sr. Discipline Lead/Discipline Lead II in all aspects of assigned projects within assigned discipline, including proposal preparation, entitlement processes, billing, scheduling, development of cost opinions, as well as client interaction, design team communication and management, and coordination of authorities having jurisdiction and general contractors and consultants, all to ensure successful completion of the project in compliance with all contractual provisions and timeframe/budget limitations; also draft and design concepts supporting assigned projects; may manage production staff

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist the Sr. Discipline Lead/Discipline Lead II in all aspects of the project management process to include:

  • Client Coordination
    • Proactive client interaction, communication, and updates
    • Attendance at project meetings, which may include presentations as needed
    • Preparation of contract proposals for client consideration
    • Monitoring of contractual obligations to ensure that services are delivered per agreements
    • Preparation of contract amendments as needed
  • Financial Planning and Coordination
    • Preparation of fee estimates
    • Preparation of invoices
    • Monitoring of billing collection
    • Monitoring of project financial performance
  • Resource Planning
    • Establishment of work plans for each phase of the project
    • Monitoring and maintaining of workload projections and utilization for self and other project team members; conducting backlog analyses
    • Forecasting of resources for multiple projects
    • Planning and coordination of activities of project team members, including Project Engineers, Graduate Engineers, Civil Designers, CADD Technicians and administrative support staff
  • Business Development
    • Follow company standards for business development documentation
    • Coordination of with business development initiatives for possible leads and assisting in selling services
    • Maintaining current and past client relationships
  • Draft and design concepts with regard to project discipline as needed
  • With the assistance of the Sr. Discipline Lead/Discipline Lead II, manage production staff to ensure high performance and productivity levels, including performance management and career development

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Full-time position of minimum of 40 hours per week on a set schedule as determined by the company; may be required to work overtime
  • Air-conditioned office environment
  • During site visits, which are occasional, potential exposure to weather and various terrain
  • Exposure to external weather, etc., due to offsite client meetings, site visits, and related functions

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sit for extended periods of time
  • Walk, stand, bend, squat, twist and reach
  • May occasionally walk extended distances on various terrain during site visits
  • Simple grasping and fine manipulation
  • Extended keyboarding and mouse manipulation

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in project discipline or eight years of direct experience as equivalent
  • With degree and PE license, at least four years related experience in project discipline; with degree but without PE license, at least five years related experience in project discipline
  • At least four years Civil 3D or Revit design experience

Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge in project discipline
  • Ability to draft and design routine to complex concepts within project discipline
  • Solid knowledge of and proficiency with MS Office
  • Understanding of project requirements
  • Basic understanding of project financial performance metrics

Soft/Other Skills

  • Ability to manage, lead, and motivate a project team of different levels of employees
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and project teams successfully
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to make timely decisions independently through sound judgment for the betterment of all team members and the company
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to make effective formal verbal and written presentations to clients and all levels of employees, including management

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience managing other employees
  • Prior business development experience
