Project Engineer – Structural
Location: Fort Worth, REQ464
SUMMARY:
Work with the Project Manager to develop routine and some non-routine design and analysis concepts with regard to the design and analysis of building structures with primary construction materials, including concrete, steel, masonry, wood, and aluminum
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Analyze / design foundations, gravity framing, lateral resisting elements and secondary support system for various routine projects, subject to review and approval of the Project Manager
- Complete design calculations and verify for conformance with codes and manuals and client expectations; also coordinate with review agencies during review/approval
- Has primary responsibility for quality control of design, subject to review and approval of the Project Manager
- Coordinate with other engineers, technicians, and reviewing authority staff during preliminary and final plan preparation for conformance to standards and codes requirements
- Prepare draft cost opinions and may periodically report on construction activities and pay estimates; also review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with design
- Utilize Autodesk Revit and Bentley structural design suite software or other various software applications as design and analysis tools
- Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, construction documents, studies, permits, and designs for various projects; assume the signing authority for those work products
- Visit project sites occasionally to review general progress of construction
- Attend and participate in client meetings, as appropriate and as needed
- Mentor and instruct some work of Graduate Engineers and Production staff as needed
- Maintain workload projections
- Assist the Project Manager / Senior Project Manager with resource planning and forecasting
- Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil and/or Architectural Engineering
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Texas
- At least two years structural design or analysis experience in building projects, including concrete, steel, masonry, wood, and aluminum
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- General knowledge of structural engineering processes, including QA/QC
- Knowledge of and ability with Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Bentley products or any applicable software designed for specific area of expertise
- Knowledge of and proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) as well as MS Project

Working Conditions
- Full-time position of minimum of 40 hours per week on a set schedule as determined by the company; may be required to work overtime
- Normal, air-conditioned office environment
- Sit for extended periods of time
- May occasionally walk during site visits
