Project Engineer II

Location: Fort Worth, REQ465


  • Analyze / design paving, grading, drainage, water and sanitary sewer infrastructure for various non-routine projects, subject to review and approval of the Project Manager
  • Complete design calculations and verify for conformance with codes and manuals, and client expectations; also coordinates with review agencies during review/approval
  • Has primary responsibility for quality control of design, subject to review and approval of the Project Manager
  • Coordinate with other engineers, technicians, and reviewing authority staff during preliminary and final plan preparation for conformance to standards and codes requirements
  • Prepare draft cost opinions and may periodically report on construction activities and pay estimates; also review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with design
  • Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of production portions of projects
  • Prepare and modify reports, specifications, plans, construction documents, studies, permits, and designs for various projects; assume the signing authority for those work products
  • Visit project sites occasionally to review general progress of construction and responds to request for site visits concerning elements of the design for which the firm is responsible
  • Attend and participate in client meetings, as appropriate and as needed
  • Make technical presentations as needed
  • Mentor and instruct some work of CADD production staff as needed
  • Maintain workload projections for themselves and others on the design team
  • Assist the Project Manager in the coordination of pricing, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projects
  • Assist the Project Manager / Senior Project Manager with resource planning and forecasting
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Texas
  • At least six years civil design or analysis experience in infrastructure, including paving, drainage, grading, water, and sanitary sewer


  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering processes
  • Solid knowledge of and skills with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Microstation software or any applicable software designed for specific area of expertise
  • Solid knowledge of and ability with MS Office and Project
  • Knowledge and ability to estimate costs associated with technical tasks and understanding of basic project financial data
  • Manage multiple assignments successfully through effective multi-tasking and prioritizing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with a team or independently as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to make effective formal verbal and written presentations
  • Ability to lead and teach less experienced engineers as well as designers and technicians

  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Exposure to extreme weather and various terrain during occasional site visits
