Sr. Survey Technician

Location: Fort Worth, REQ477

JOB DUTIES:

  • Processes field data and plots worksheets for various types of surveys independently.
  • Performs calculations of all types of surveys.
  • Responsible for reducing field notes, traverse adjustments, setting up folder, deed sketches
  • Determines methods and procedures for establishing or reestablishing survey control. Keeps accurate notes, records and sketches to describe and certify work performed
  • Assigned responsibilities for medium and larger sized projects
  • Manage and prioritize multiple survey tasks and projects
  • Perform standard survey practices and provide updates to a Project Surveyor for QA/QC review and to the Project Manager
  • Communicate and coordinate with Project Surveyors and Project Managers to ensure a complete, timely and precise product
  • Coordinate and correspond with external clients on projects
  • Mentors and trains other Survey Technicians and Survey Party Chiefs in all aspects of the business
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

 KNOWLEDGE:

  • Solid knowledge of surveying principals and methods
  • Solid knowledge of proper retracement of land boundaries
  • Solid knowledge of required field survey equipment

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate Degree in Surveying or allied discipline
  • Surveyor-in-Training certification (SIT)
  • One to two years of Survey Party Chief experience
  • Ten to twelve years of total Survey experience
  • Five or more years of computer-aided drafting experience, specifically with Civil 3D software

SKILLS:

  • Solid documentation skills (boundary analysis and decisions)
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center software, and MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Proficient state plane coordinates systems and geodetic calculations
  • Complete multiple assignments successfully through effective multi-tasking and prioritizing
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective problem solving/analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to provide advanced level expertise
  • Ability to work with a team or independently as needed

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Air-conditioned office environment
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Exposure to extreme weather and various terrain during occasional site visits
